Comic book geeks can rejoice in this news as it’s been announced that casting for the lead roles for Gerard Way’s The Umbrella Academy Netflix Adaptation has already begun. It’s been reported that Ellen Page is casted for one of the main roles in the upcoming live-action series based on Way’s graphic novel.
Reported by Deadline, Page will be playing the character Vanya, also known as the black sheep of the dysfunctional family of superheroes known as the Umbrella Academy.
While the rest of the cast has not been revealed yet, Deadline mentions that Steve Blackman will undertake the role as executive producer, with Jeremy Slater writing the pilot script. Gerard Way will also be serving as co-executive producer for the series.
Back in July, Way revealed that the 10-episode series will debut in 2018 on Netflix.
“I am thrilled that The Umbrella Academy has found a home at Netflix,” Way explained.
“I couldn’t think of a better place for the vision Gabriel Bá and myself had when creating the comic and cannot wait for people to experience that world as a live-action show.”
