Everything You Need To Know About Download Festival Australia 2018

So, we lost Soundwave Festival almost three years ago… it only makes sense that we’re getting Download Festival next year, right? We’ve been teased long enough and we finally have some important details on where and when this festival is happening. While Download Festival is a 5-day music event run in the UK, known for its mammoth lineup of acts from the rock and metal genres, festival organisers have made the announcement that they have locked in a date in Melbourne, Australia on March 24, 2018 at the Flemington Racecourse.

The venue will have over 25,000 punters with 28 bands playing across four stages for the day. The full lineup of Download Festival Australia will be revealed next week on Thursday November 9. The lineup will contain a mixture of local and international acts, showcasing a mixed bag for new and experienced festivalgoers.

Melbourne was chosen as the first city to debut the festival due to the people’s love of rock music there. However, the organisers are planning to expand Download Festival in other cities to fill a gap in the market for the heavy fans out there. UNIFY: A Heavy Gathering is currently the only heavy festival existing for Australian fans at the moment.

Unified, Live Nation and Secret Sounds are teaming up to bring this festival to fruition so our hats are off to them.
